NileDutch - carrying cargo to West Africa for over 25 years

South Africa - West Africa

In 2002, we started a 10-day frequency service between South and West Africa deploying two multipurpose vessels. It made NileDutch the market leader in the trade between four South/West African republics: the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) and the Republic of Congo (also known as Congo Brazzaville). Ports of call include: Durban, Cape Town, Luanda, Cabinda, Namibe, Matadi and Pointe Noire. We can arrange on-carriage to Libreville, Douala, Freetown and Monrovia from Pointe Noire, using our own ships.

The vessels on this link each have a capacity for more than 600 TEU. They are well suited to carry not only the substantial amount of containerised cargo to be shipped, but also breakbulk items such as iron and steel. We also take cars and trucks. In the South African ports we serve our ships berth at multipurpose terminals, allowing for the flexibility to accept all different kinds of cargo.

When the fundamental aspects of shipping such as transit times, freight levels and schedule integrity are satisfied, then the merchant needs to assess what is offered "on the other side". NileDutch has therefore appointed dedicated agents and stevedores in South Africa and has even gone one step further in Angola. Here, we have established our own organisation in Luanda and Lobito that also dispose of essential terminal equipment. Therefore, our staff is both committed and fully capable rendering the best possible cargo delivery services to the Angolan receivers.
